MEET PHARMEMOM MYRA FLYNN!

Name: Myra Flynn

Age: 31

Location: Pasadena, CA

Occupation: Singer/Songwriter, Model, winemaker, jewelry maker

Favorite Color: Mustard Yellow

Favorite Food: Sushi

Favorite TV show: Ever? Breaking Bad. It was the first show I ever watched where I recognized that the art I always saw in movies could be in television as well.

Family: My husband is celebrity mixologist Phil Wills, me, our 18-year old Chihuahua Polo and the baby in my belly!

Favorite Artist? Nina Simone and Joni Mitchel. It doesn’t get much better than those two.

Why did you decide to do the work you are doing now?

I don’t think I ever decided, it all just kind of crept up on me! And as much as I have tried to escape the music Industry it has always found me. From there, each branch of my brand came together organically. I’m a huge supporter of making sure your living matches your nature. Anything outside of that is pure torture!

Weirdest Pregnancy craving?

I am weird in that I haven’t had a craving! But I will say a salmon caesar salad tastes better than ever for some reason.

What do you do in your free time?

Apparently make a baby! Seriously I tour six months out of the year and when I’m not traveling my husband is and I’m traveling with him or I’m in the studio recording the next album. Free time has never really existed and when it does I collapse into a good Netflix binge like every good American. Something about this lifestyle of work on very little sleep until you drop tells me I may be ok at this motherhood thing!

Do you have any quirks?

Too many! One of my favorite things to do is spend hours thrifting at the darkest dingiest thrift stores. Seriously the grungier the better. I’m perfectly capable of walking out without buying a thing but I love the dig for that one unique punch bowl from 1972!

What skill would you love to master?

Math. I have something blocking me from being good at that and I’m embarrassed about it. Thankfully I’ve managed much of life without revealing my struggles with it. But I’d love to be better so I can help my kids with their homework.

What movie title best describes your life?

These days “It’s A Wonderful Life.” Pre my more mature version of Myra? Likely “The Exorcist.”

How do you typically start your day?

I actually turn my Pharmedoc pillow into a little seat on my bed and my husband serves me tea to get me up and going. From there it’s 90-minutes of hot yoga (yes I have kept this up even with the controversy surrounding it and pregnancy. Happy to chat in the DMs) and then respond to emails until my face falls off. From there, if I’m touring, it’s time for a show!

Where’s the farthest you’ve ever traveled from home?

We were in Japan a couple of months ago and that was wonderful! I also lived in Australia for a while. That was pretty far.

How different was your life exactly one year ago?

I was really trying to solidify the tentacles of my career with as much stability as possible so I could make more heart space to be a good partner and potentially mother one day. I’m so happy I did that internal work. It makes me feel wonderful about where things are at now.

What is something you would like to do the old fashion way?

That’s a tough question. I think “old fashioned” tends to represent a time for only a specific privileged group of people, whereas those times represent real pain for other cultures. But if I can think of the best answer, I wish we recorded music in more of that warm, analog way we used to. Music: the ultimate unifier.

What is your ideal way to spend a weekend?

I love to get on a hike with my husband and dog (if my dog can make the hike anymore! ) followed by some beach time. I didn’t grow up with the beach I grew up landlocked in Vermont so I’m still so in awe of beach culture, even though I’ve been in LA for six years now.

What is the strangest/most surprising thing that ever happened to you?

Getting pregnant! I mean...we planned it but had no clue it would only take us a Collective three months to actually make it happen. Going from “trying” to “mom” in such a short period of time was unexpected, but awesome!

What is something you think everyone should do at least once in their life?

Try to make a living at your passion. Seriously. It’s so hard but so important.

  • So refreshing to read about a woman who’s career is her biggest passion and having a baby and starting a family fits right into it all. So many women feel like they have to choose a career or a family but we really are so strong and can do so much!! Loved reading about Myra!
